What is a Personal Liability Umbrella policy?
A Personal Liability Umbrella policy adds an additional layer of liability over your properties and your vehicles. In other words, you can buy extra lawsuit protection of $1,000,000, 3,000,000 or 10,000,000 or more that will protect you whether you are sued from a slip and fall at your house or if you are at fault in a terrible auto accident.
Here's how it works: You write your underlying home policy with $300,000 in Liability and you buy $250,000/500,000/100,000 in bodily injury and property damage liability for your cars and the Umbrella will take each of these coverages up to $1,000,000 or higher.
Umbrellas can also be endorsed to cover Uninsured Motorist too- at very reasonable prices, so all Umbrellas should include UM.
